Landlord Call Recording: Keep Promises on Record as a Tenant

Are you still trusting your memory when your landlord says on the phone, "I'll get it fixed next week" or "You'll get your deposit back on moving day"? Months later, when a promise isn't kept, something that was only said out loud can disappear with a simple "I never said that."
Recording calls with your landlord means keeping the calls that matter most to a tenant, like repair requests, deposit returns, and lease terms, so you can check them again later. daglo transcribes those calls, saves them, and shows you a summary of the dates, amounts, and promises. Every conversation with your landlord, from move-in to move-out, stays in one place, ready whenever you need to check what was agreed.
4 landlord calls every tenant should keep on record

The calls that matter most to tenants are usually the ones involving money and dates. These four come up again and again, so they're worth saving.
| Call | What to keep | What happens without a record |
|---|---|---|
| Repair request | The problem, the repair date, and who pays | Repairs get delayed or you end up paying |
| Deposit return | Return date, amount, and any deductions | Nothing to point to if the date changes |
| Lease changes | Rent or fee adjustments, renewal terms | You each remember different terms |
| Moving schedule | Move-out date and viewings for the next tenant | Schedules clash and your move gets messy |
Why landlord promises need a record, not just your memory

Leases often run a year or two, which makes it hard to remember exactly what was promised in that first call. With the call saved as text, you can reread what was actually said, even months later.
- Each person's words shown separately: your lines and your landlord's lines are split, so it's always clear who promised what.
- Key points in the summary: even a long call comes with a summary that shows dates, amounts, and promises at a glance.
- A quick confirmation text: send a recap like "Here's what we agreed on the phone," and you'll both be working from the same version.
A record also means fewer awkward arguments. Instead of comparing memories, you and your landlord can look at the same facts.
First apartment? Keep calls with agents and building managers too

If you're renting for the first time, you'll be on the phone with real estate agents and building management, not just your landlord. The more unfamiliar terms and conditions come up in a call, the more a record helps.
- Calls with agents: double-check what you were told before signing, like the unit's conditions, the deposit due date, and which appliances are included.
- Calls with building management: keep track of maintenance fees, parking registration, and repairs to shared spaces.
- Sharing with family: show the summary to your parents and review the lease terms together.
Organize landlord calls with Board Chat

When a call ends, you get a transcript and a summary together, and you can ask Board Chat for anything else. Because it answers from the transcript of your call, you can check every answer against the original.
- "List only the repair date my landlord promised and what was said about who pays."
- "Summarize the deposit return date, the amount, and any deductions mentioned."
- "Draft a confirmation text to my landlord based on this call."
Keep all your landlord calls in the same folder, and every promise made during your lease is easy to look back on.
How to set up landlord call records
You only need to set it up once. After that, just record your calls, and transcripts and summaries collect in the folder you chose.
- In the daglo app, go to More → App Settings → Features → Call Recording Transcription.
- To keep only calls with your landlord and agent, turn on Transcribe Selected Contacts Only and add their numbers. To keep every call, turn on Transcribe All Calls.
- Choose the space and folder for your records. A dedicated folder like "My lease" makes things easy to find.
- Turn on call recording in your phone app. When a call ends, a transcript and summary appear in that folder.
For other situations, like sales calls or freelance work, see our guide to call recording summaries. Set it up on move-in day, and you'll have your landlord's promises on record all the way to move-out.
Note: call recording transcription is currently available on Android only. It supports calls recorded with the Samsung Phone, A. (T Phone), and LG U+ ixiO apps.
