To support ongoing development and the latest technologies, the minimum supported watchOS version for the Apple Watch app is changing from watchOS 8 to watchOS 9.
As a result, Apple Watch devices running watchOS 8 won't be able to use the updated Watch app — only devices that support watchOS 9 or later will be able to use the new version.
This affects users on Apple Watch Series 1–3 only, as these models can't be updated to watchOS 9 and won't be able to use the Watch app after this change. (Series 3 was released in 2017.)
Devices can continue using the currently installed version of the app as-is.
